I had the pleasure of working with Dennis on numerous occasions. At the Brixton Academy, in Birmingham, Wolverhampton, and in Holland with Aswad's rythym section.
Working with the late Crowned Prince of Reggae
By Barry Vincent
The regular lineup we had was Leroy Horsemouth Wallace or Benbow on drums, Asher on Keyboards, Preacher or Proffessor Larry on Bass and yours truly on guitar.
We were doing the tunes from the album 'Love Has Found It's Way' and Money in My Pocket, Wolves and Shepherds.... etc
I recall a particular trip to Holland....we were chilling at the promoters flat. I was fooling around on my axe and Dennis joined in...the tune was Autumn Leaves....He blew me away with his rendition!
He should have done a jazz album beacause he was heavily influenced by Nat King Cole and other singers of that era.
Another time we being driven by Junior Delgado to a gig out of London (UK) and Dennis started singing softly to himself in a velvety falsetto voice that was to die for! I was in heaven but it didn't last long cus maybe he was having a private moment and held himself back.
When Bob was interviewed by Rollong stones Magazine he said Dennis Brown was one of his favorite singers. Check the link here.
