7. Here is a short except from a gig with singer Justin in London.
Do You Love Music ?
Generally it is believed that musicians only play 1 style of music. This may be true for some, but not all. I began playing Gospel, Reggae, Jazz and RnB in Jamaica, West Indies.
My first Gospel gig was with the Grace Thrillers, way back in the 70's when they were just starting out. I was introduced by a fellow Jamaican musician and friend named Lennox Gordon. We used to travel by van to all parts of Jamaica to play for Churches. Those were the good ol days. Those Church folks always treated us good. There was always pleny of country food to look forward to!
After moving to the US I played in an off-Broadway gospel play 'Mama I Want To Sing' in New York City, and many, many Churches in the South. I also have done many RnB sessions and live work.
One of the things I enjoy about music is the different styles that come from different cultures throughout the world. As well as differences, there are many similarities to some of them. Bossa, Motown, Soca, Blues, Funk, Calypso, Reggae, Rock, Soul, Jazz, Marengue....We love and play it all.
Maybe we should keep an open mind towards the different types of music in the world beacause they all have so much to offer and music soothes the soul like nothing else I know.
